Kerala State Public Works Department has rest houses in all cities and towns and in most of the major panchayats and hill stations of the state. Rooms are available for stay of Government officials on duty at the places and to general public according to availability. There are 137 rest houses/ Inspection Bunglows/TBs under the control of PWD at the following locations.

Rent for accommodation in the Rest Houses

Rent for M.L.As. & M.Ps and to all grades of Government Servants will be at the rate of 30% of DA eligible to them. The rate of rent for accredited press representatives and Ex M.L.As, shall be that for M.L.As and for Ex.M.Ps shall be that for M.Ps.

Reservation of accommodation, period of occupation, procedure of allotment etc.

Accommodation in the rest houses may be reserved for a period of three days, at a time, for members of the general public and upto ten days for government servants on official duty. A formal application for reservation is to be sent to the District Collector of the district concerned at least 7 days in advance. The reserving authority shall intimate the availability or otherwise of reservation to the applicant as well as the officer in charge of the rest house.
