OBJECTIVES OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN (EMP)

The main aim of EMP is to ensure that various adverse impacts due to the project are minimised / mitigated or avoided and the positive impacts are enhanced.

During construction state, the following objectives are ensured:

  • implementation of mitigation measures by the Contractor
  • ensuring that provisions of the MORT&H specifications, Indian Road Congress (IRC) codes and mitigation measures proposed in the EMP are strictly adhered toand implemented by strengthening implementation mechanism

DETAILS OF ENVIRONMENTAL PARAMETERS BEING MONITORED FOR KSTP-1, KSTP-3 & KSTP-4

The following parameters of environmental significance are monitored to ensure compliance by the contractor during construction stage.  While an engineer from the contractor's side as well as PWD's field Division are designated as Environmental Officers to monitor these parameters, the Envronmental Engineer from the Project Management Team (PMT), Thiruvananthapuram makes frequent field trips to ensure compliance of the parameters.

In addition, the World Bank Environmental team, during their visits to the site verify compliance and give instructions for improvement, if necessary.
